Heat Pump – PTHP – Standard Efficiency

A PTHP (Packaged Terminal Heat Pump) is a self-contained HVAC unit that provides both cooling and heating using a heat pump system instead of solely relying on electric resistance heating.

How a PTHP Works

  • In cooling mode, the unit operates like a standard air conditioner, removing heat from the indoor air and rejecting it into the atmosphere.
  • In heating mode, the heat pump reverses the process, extracting heat from the outside air (even in cold temperatures) and bringing it indoors.
  • During extreme heating requirements, the electric heat is activated to supply heat in the space.
